Bern joined ICORN in January 2019, through the Swiss German PEN Centre which managers and hosts the ICORN programme in the city.
With the perks of being the capital of Switzerland, Bern has rich artistic, literary and cultural offerings.
Bern welcomed its first ICORN resident, the Yemeni journalist, author, blogger, photographer and activist Firas Shamsan in 2019.
In 2023, poet, writer, activist, and mixed media artist Aaiún Nin arrived in Bern for the city's second ICORN residency.
