A long-standing defender of freedom of expression, democracy, and human rights, Stockholm has been an ICORN City of Refuge since 2006 and has hosted writers, artists, and journalists at risk since 1998.

Kulturhuset Stadsteatern manages and hosts the ICORN programme in Stockholm, providing work spaces and opportunities for professional development to the writers, artists, and journalists in ICORN residence.

Stockholm has hosted 11 writers, artists, and journalists, including Faraj Bayrakdar, Arya Aramnejad, Zahra Hussaini, Raafat Hekmat, and Mun Mun.
