Asia Gaboush is a journalist and writer of journalistic stories from Sudan. Her work has focused on covering conflict areas in Sudan, as well as human rights violations and human trafficking cases in the region.
Originally from South Kordofan, Gaboush began her journalistic career by working for several local newspapers, including Al Wifaq, Sudaress, Al Jareeda, and Sudan Morning in the period between 2004 and 2020.
Often first-hand accounts of victims of human trafficking, revealing shocking details about the treatment of women and children in Sudan, Ethiopia, and Eritrea, Gaboush’s articles exposed the traffickers’ links to Sudanese authorities and officials.
Due to increasing censorship, threats, and persecution, Gaboush fled Sudan in 2019, moving to Cario, Egypt. In 2022, she arrived in Tønsberg, Norway as the city’s first ICORN resident.
During her ICORN residency, Asia has continued to engage in journalistic work, including working on a booking on violence and discrimination against women in Sudan and Egypt.
