Emmanuel Shokrian is an author, translator, and scholar whose research focuses on queer history and sexuality in Turkey, Iran, and Egypt. He has
Shokrian has translated articles for several diaspora media outlets, including Radio Zamaneh and Voice of Iran. His book, Homosexuality in the Shadow, detailing the history of homosexual identities in Iran, was commissioned by the Iranian Lesbian and Transgender Network, 6rang, and published in Germany in 2015 by AIDA books.
Shokrian has also advocated for and written on the rights of persons with disabilities.
Between 2018 and 2020, Shokrian was the ICORN resident in Oslo.
