Mohsen Hossaini is a respected Afghan artist and animator known for his outspoken criticism of war, as well as traditional and religious taboos. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Film and Television Directing from the College of Iran Television.
Following his graduation, Hossaini worked with several television stations, including Afghanistan Radio & Television (2006–2007), SABA TV (2008–2010), and Hewad TV.
Internationally recognised for his animation work, Hossaini gained acclaim for his film 'Shelter' (2006), which won the Kabul Short Film Festival in 2007. The film was also screened at the Hiroshima Animation Film Festival (2006), the NAAF Film Festival in Bosnia (2007), and the Leipzig Film Festival (2007). His other notable short films include 'Solitude' (2002), 'Perfume' (2009), and 'Hitler' (2009).
In addition to filmmaking, Hossaini’s visual art has been featured in international exhibitions.
In September 2015, he arrived in Drøbak City of Refuge, where he was the ICORN resident until 2017. He continues working from exile.
